Composer Nathan Felix Presents his new immersive opera on February 5th
Mexican-American composer Nathan Felix will present his new immersive opera titled The Meta Opera at the St. Pete Museum of Fine Arts (255 Beach Dr NE) on Thursday February 5th from 6:30 – 8:30. The Meta Opera is a short opera inspired by the works in In Caravaggio’s Light. This site-specific performance will unfold across the museum’s campus, guiding audiences through the galleries on a layered emotional and musical journey that brings the drama and theatricality of the Baroque to life.
For one night only, the MFA presents an original immersive opera in partnership with acclaimed composer Nathan Felix. Known for his groundbreaking immersive operas, Felix brings his signature blend of historical depth and contemporary urgency to this new work. Through this exclusive performance, he reimagines the Baroque through a modern lens, exploring the emotions of guilt, loyalty, identity, and spiritual reckoning. Vocalists and musicians perform live throughout the museum, surrounding audiences with sound, guiding them through the performance, and making visitors part of the experience.
The opera will feature some of the area’s brightest young opera and theatre talents in Samantha Sosa (soprano) , Keenan Kade (baritone), Lauren Williams (soprano), José Miguel (tenor), Ariel Andrew (soprano) and Serenna H. Jones (soprano) and Tommy Norton. Other featured musicians include conductor Ethan Lolley, violist Daniel Cortes and more!
